MODERN

Offered: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced

Ages: Teen-Adult

Modern Dance can be explained as being very experimental and iconoclastic. This style of dance challenges students to a new awareness of inner and outer realities.

SHEDDING classical ballet technique, costume and shoes, early modern dance pioneers, at the turn of the century practiced what is known as “free dance”. Without strict classical ballet rules, movement became very diverse.  Modern generally cannot be recognized as any specific dance style, although other dance styles can often influence much of the movement.
